God's Time Table

Ask! What Shall I Give You? 1 Kings 3:5
How about a “Catch Up Week?” Blessings to all who are reading Billy Graham’s book The Holy Spirit and this blog. On my time table, all will have completed Chapters 1-9 by September 7th but I sincerely want our church wide prayer study to be on God’s Time Table so I trust God has each and everyone of you in His hands and reading the chapter(s) meant specifically for you. So how did Solomon answer the above question God posed to him in a dream?
“Give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” 1 Kings 3:9. When I read this answer in my weekly devotional, The Jesus Code by O.S. Hawkins, I prayed that this could be my answer too. My first request needs to be that God works with me, helping me to not dictate my time table for others but instead, taking time to pray and listen for God’s dictation to me. I enjoyed hearing Susan’s testimony last Monday on our Facebook Discussion Session of how she clearly heard God’s word for her. God has worked with Susan all the years I have been blessed to worship (and work) with her at Christ Our Savior UMC and for this I give God thanks.
Being part of a church family gives me an opportunity to see God working in others and so, along with Solomon, this is my second request - that God will work in me and give me an understanding heart. Karen’s Holy Spirit testimony last Monday captured the truth of God working in us and in those God has placed around us. Karen’s husband Ken has an understanding heart and a mind gifted with perfect medical recall. Praise be to God for His wisdom placed in each and everyone of His children.
Finally, how wise was Solomon to ask God to work through him. When friends and family will say how something I did was a blessing to them, I know this is God working through me. And what a double blessing that is for me. So I leave you with the words of O.S. Hawkins in The Jesus Code - What do you want? The good news is when you choose the best, God will more than bless. The Holy Spirit is the best. Thank you for choosing to join this study with us.
God bless.
Chris
