BACKSTAGE ON CHRISTMAS EVE
"I have come... to do Your will."
Hebrews 10:7
All over the world, churches large and small are presenting Christmas plays and pageants. What amazes me is how much goes on backstage before the curtain ever rises. There are props to be made, costumes to be sewn, music to be rehearsed, lines to be memorized, and so much more.
On this Christmas, with all the attention on Bethlehem and the manger, think for a minute about what was transpiring backstage... in heaven, that is. Our Lord was saying a farewell to his Father. Laying aside His glory, He stepped over the portals of heaven into a smelly Eastern stable.
And what would he say to the father as he departed, when the curtain rose on the greatest event in human history? I go “to do Your will.”
For that which we had been waiting and to which the prophets had been pointing was coming... and for the express purpose of doing the Father's will.
CODE WORD: BACKSTAGE

All of heaven was looking over those portals that starlit night in Bethlehem. The “fullness of the time” (Galatians 4:4 KJV) had come. Although most on earth were oblivious, those in heaven were watching and worshipping. Remember: what is on stage is not always the whole story.
................................................................................................................................................
Lord, to think of what you left to come to give me life moves me to want “to do Your will.”
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
